The New South Wales (NSW) government is undergoing significant changes in its core technology platforms management structure. The Department of Customer Service (DCS) is in the process of appointing a director for its Government Technology Platforms (GTP) division. This move comes as part of a broader reorganization effort within the government.
The new director of systems capability will play a crucial role in overseeing key whole-of-government platforms such as Licence NSW, Regulation NSW, and GovDC. This position, reporting to executive director Reece Clementi, is pivotal in implementing a fresh value-based operating model for the division.
The restructuring within the GTP division has sparked discussions, with the Public Service Association raising concerns about potential job cuts. The union stated that around 112 team members might be affected by the restructuring, with some roles transitioning to temporary positions to mitigate financial risks. The director of systems capability will lead various teams encompassing software engineering disciplines, including full-stack developers, API developers, data engineers, and quality assurance testers.
