RAEOA and CMC have embarked on a groundbreaking collaboration to drive the modernization of Timor-Leste through the development of Oecusse. This strategic partnership aims to position Oecusse as a hub for digital innovation, sustainable tourism, and green energy. The centerpiece of this initiative is the Oecusse Digital Centre (ODC) Smart Hub, a pioneering 140-acre integrated development that will transform Oecusse into the country’s first smart city.
The ODC will host a range of facilities, including luxury accommodations, retail and dining outlets, wellness areas, event venues, and entertainment zones. This self-sustaining ecosystem is designed to accommodate up to 150,000 workers and residents, setting a new standard for inclusive growth and digital innovation in Timor-Leste.
To power this transformation, RAEOA and CMC have partnered with Weidun Energy to develop Timor-Leste’s largest renewable energy project—a 50 MW solar farm. This initiative aligns with Timor-Leste’s commitment to sustainable development and will provide clean and reliable energy to support the ODC and its surrounding infrastructure.
Leaders from RAEOA and CMC expressed their enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its potential to create local jobs, enhance community well-being, and attract global investment. CMC’s Managing Director, Vincent Yeoh, outlined the organization’s ambitious roadmap, which extends beyond Oecusse to include projects in Dili and collaborations across various sectors.
