Changwon, South Korea has been unveiled as the host city for the 2026 World Shooting Para Sport Championships scheduled to take place from 3 to 14 September 2026. The event is expected to draw over 300 athletes from more than 50 countries, all vying for a chance to secure quota allocation for the LA 2028 Paralympic Games.
This 10th edition of the Shooting Para Sport Worlds will showcase both Para trap and VI (vision impaired) events in a combined competition program, marking the fourth time such a format has been featured. It will also be the second occasion that Korea plays host to the World Championships, following the successful staging in Cheongju in 2018.

The prestigious event will be held at the renowned Changwon International Shooting Range, a world-class venue that has been a familiar setting for the world’s top athletes. The range has previously hosted the World Shooting Para Sport World Cup from 2022 to 2025, as well as the ISSF World Championships in 2018 and the ISSF World Championships Juniors in 2023.

The Korea Shooting Federation for Disabled (KSFD) will spearhead the organization of the event as the Local Organizing Committee (LOC). Tyler Anderson, the World Shooting Para Sport Senior Manager, expressed excitement about Changwon being selected as the host city, praising its exceptional facilities and the experienced LOC. This decision marks a return to Korea, a dominant force in shooting Para sport, after an eight-year hiatus.
The most recent edition of the World Championships was held in Lima, Peru in 2023, where France emerged as the leading nation with six gold medals. A total of 54 countries participated, with 21 nations securing medals and 16 of them clinching at least one gold.

Changwon 2026 is not only a significant sporting event but also a crucial stepping stone for athletes aiming to qualify for the LA 2028 Paralympic Games. The championships will offer a platform for competitors to showcase their skills and secure their spot in the prestigious global multi-sport event.

As the countdown begins for the 2026 World Shooting Para Sport Championships, anticipation is building among athletes, officials, and fans worldwide. The event promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent, determination, and sportsmanship, embodying the spirit of inclusivity and excellence that defines the Paralympic movement.
