The NSW Government has allocated $330 million for the construction of the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital to cater to the healthcare needs of the Eurobodalla Shire. The hospital, located from Narooma to Batemans Bay, is set to be larger than the combined capacity of Moruya and Batemans Bay hospitals. This investment aims to provide advanced healthcare services using cutting-edge technology and patient-centered care models.
The project involves various key stakeholders such as Health Infrastructure, Yuin Aboriginal Country, RP Infrastructure, Architectus Conrad Gargett, and Multiplex Constructions. The hospital, part of the Southern NSW Local Health District, is currently under construction and is designed for future scalability based on evolving service demands.
The development will consolidate services into one modern facility, enhancing accessibility to a wide range of healthcare services within the region. The hospital’s design includes an Emergency Department, an Intensive Care Unit, chemotherapy treatments, surgical theatres, medical imaging facilities, pediatric and maternity services, mental health care, and education and training resources, among others.
The selection of the site in south-east Moruya was a result of extensive consultations with the community, local Aboriginal groups, and key stakeholders. The planning process involved clinical services planning, campus master planning, and the submission of a State Significant Development Application to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
The hospital’s campus master plan, developed in collaboration with government agencies, healthcare professionals, and the local community, focuses on integrating key clinical services and infrastructure to support high-quality healthcare delivery. The hospital is expected to be completed by 2027, with a phased approach to operational commissioning to ensure readiness for patients and staff.
