Emergency Care Continues: Metro South Health Services Uninterrupted During Severe Weather

During severe weather conditions caused by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, Metro South Health in Queensland ensures the continuity of its healthcare services, including emergency care. The hospitals under Metro South Health remain operational 24/7 to cater to any medical emergencies that may arise. Patients requiring immediate medical attention are advised to bring their regular medications when seeking treatment at the hospitals. In case of emergencies, individuals are urged to contact emergency services through Triple Zero (000).

For non-life-threatening situations, individuals have the option to utilize the Virtual Emergency Care Service, an online platform staffed with specialized clinicians available from 8 am to 10 pm every day. Additionally, 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) offers round-the-clock health advice for those in need of medical guidance. Community centers and clinics have resumed normal operating hours, with a few exceptions due to the severe weather.

In instances where non-urgent planned care needs to be rescheduled, Logan Hospital is proactively reaching out to affected patients to arrange new appointment times. Patients who are unable to make their scheduled appointments due to the weather conditions are encouraged to contact the hospital to reschedule. Visitors are advised to prioritize their safety and consider the weather conditions before visiting hospitals.

To ensure the safety of everyone, individuals are encouraged to stay informed about weather updates and road closures. The Bureau of Meteorology provides weather forecasts and warnings, while Queensland Traffic offers information on road closures. In case of health-related inquiries, 13 HEALTH and 1300 MH CALL provide health advice and mental health support, respectively. For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, MobLink and 13 YARN offer health, social support, and crisis intervention services.

Metro South Health remains committed to delivering essential healthcare services without interruption during severe weather events. By maintaining open lines of communication and providing alternative care options, Metro South Health aims to safeguard the well-being of patients and the community at large.
